A medical computer is a general term that refers to a computer that is specifically designed for health care and medical environments, and can run applications specific to medical facilities, such as patient care, medical records, radiology, patient infotainment, and hospital administration. A medical computer may or may not carry medical certifications.
Medical Specifications:
The plastic used in creating a medical computer case usually has worldwide medical certifications that include UL60601-1 & EN60601-1. Medical computers may also be IP65 or IP66 certified, which means they are dustproof and waterproof. Practitioners may spray and wipe down the medical computer without damaging it.
The small size of a medical computer enables it to be placed in patient rooms, nursing stations, and other areas where space is limited. It can be mounted on a wall or swing arm. The medical computer can also be installed on a cart, running on battery power for a limited time. This is due to the medical computer's use of laptop components for RAM, Hard Drive, and CPU; the smaller components create less heat and need less power.
The medical computer is also capable of absorbing shock to protect the components inside, allowing patients and doctors to use the medical computer without damaging it. With recent changes in health care legislation and policy, electronic medical records (EMR) are becoming a requirement. Medical computers must now have the performance required to run EMR software and display medical records at point-of-care.
Cybernet and Medical Computer Technology:
Cybernet is the industry pioneer in all in one PC technology. Since 1996, we have been developing and manufacturing reliable, high-performance all-in-one computer solutions that can be customized to fit any enterprise environment. We serve a wide range of industries, including banking, health care, education, government and POS systems for retail. For health care, our all-in-one PCs are mounted on medical carts, used at nursing stations, and the antimicrobial medical computers are used in sterile environments such as operating rooms.
Cybernet’s product lines include several all-in-one PC designs in compact packages. Our newest model is the CyberMed G45, a powerful 19-inch medical PC that handles EMR software applications with ease. The CyberMed MP15T is an all-purpose touch screen medical computer that can be used as a patient infotainment system, an EMR computer for medical staff, and a high-performance PC for radiology and laboratory. The medical-grade CyberMed MP15T also has multiple I/O devices to control access and provide security, including scanners for RFID, barcode and fingerprints, and readers for Smart Cards or Magnetic Stripe cards. There are also 2 other medical grade touch screen PCs ideal for use in a hospital or clinic, including an all in one medical computer (the iOne-MP171), and a fanless all in one medical computer (the iOne-MP172). All 4 medical computers have an antimicrobial coating for sterile medical environments. The iOne-MP172 can also be used as a fanless industrial PC.
