If Windows will not connect to Windows Update, ensure there is no issue with the PC's network connection. Windows must also be activated prior to connecting to Windows Update. Once these factors have been confirmed, ensure the unit has the correct date and time setting. For Windows XP users, if the Start Menu icon isn't working, try using the option in Internet Explorer's menu bar (Tools -> Windows Update).
