How to Recover a Windows XP System Using a Ghost WinPE Boot CD and Factory System Image DVD
WARNING - The following steps, once completed, will return your Cybernet system to its factory fresh state. As such, any applications, data, etc. that has been added to the machine since its purchase will be LOST. Please be sure to make a proper backup of all important data prior to beginning this process (See related articles for more information).
1. Power on the computer and immediately begin repeatedly pressing the F11 key until the system Boot Menu screen appears. 2. Insert Ghost WinPE boot CD into optical drive of unit. This CD is labeled 'Repair Disc.' 3. Ensure the CD/DVD drive is highlighted on the boot menu and press Enter. When prompted, press any key to boot from CD/DVD.
4. At this time Windows will begin loading files. When completed, the standard Windows splash screen will appear and Windows will continue to load. Please wait until the WINPE command prompt appears, then type \ghost\ghost32 and press Enter.
5. Choose to continue when presented with the Ghost Prompt; the Ghost software select screen will then appear. Choose Local, Disk, From Image.
6. When the below screen appears, insert the Recovery DVD containing the Ghost image and close the optical drive. Use the drop down menu to navigate to the CD_Rom/DVD Drive and select the appropriate *.GHO image file.
7. For destination drive, select the system Hard Drive. It should be the only option available to choose.
8. Press OK and the drive imaging process will proceed. 9. If prompted for Span Volume windows (2.0GB), browse the optical drive again and select the additional *.GHS file(s). 10. Once completed, exit the program, remove the DVD from the drive, and reboot the unit. The Operating System as configured from the factory will now load. NOTE - If the PC was not originally shipped with Microsoft Office 2007, please bring up the Add or Remove programs (Programs and Features in Vista/7) and uninstall it; the program will not function without a valid Office Product Key
