Southwest Medical Center Saves Space With Cybernet Medical PCs

Southwest Medical Center operates as a not-for-profit acute care hospital, serving patients from Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, and Mexico. Southwest’s services include general surgery, orthopedic & sports medicine, women’s specialty care, and wound treatment.

Southwest Medical Center found itself in a quandary: it wanted to upgrade to more modern digital operations, but didn’t have a computer in every patient’s room to support those workflows. During their initial search, Southwest’s team quickly decided that a medical all-in-one PC was a far better choice than a typical desktop solution or the combination of a monitor and thin client PC. This was because Southwest wished to rely on a single mount to support their computer, both to simplify installation and to reduce cable clutter.

After experimenting with a competing supplier for medical panel PCs, Southwest discovered Cybernet Manufacturing and found they were more affordable and explicitly certified for healthcare environments. The medical-grade design also gave Southwest Medical Center greater confidence in its ability to clean and disinfect its computers. Southwest also appreciated the easier installation that Cybernet’s panel PCs offered, with the all-in-one design consolidating all systems onto a single wall-mounted solution. Thanks to Cybernet’s support, the installation and setup process was, in Southwest’s own words, “painless.”

Having now used Cybernet computers for over five years, Southwest Medical Center has only placed a single support ticket, for a laptop damaged in a fall after the wall mount failed. This issue was quickly resolved, and the unit was soon returned to service. Another consistent point of praise has been Cybernet’s customization options, which have made it easier for Southwest to balance its budget with its performance requirements and workflows. For example, Southwest’s nurses rarely used the touchscreen feature, so later orders had that feature removed to reduce the cost per unit. Having encountered connectivity issues with handheld 2D scanners, Southwest is now exploring integrated scanners inside Cybernet PCs, which would eliminate the need for a peripheral device and its associated cable management issues. Now in the process of upgrading to the CyberMed G22 panel PC and Windows 11, Southwest Medical Center continues to trust Cybernet’s customer support to help them get the most out of their equipment.

Cybernet’s support was fantastic. It was our issue, but Cybernet took care of it.
