HMI Computer

HMI Panel for Humans

The iPC S19 is built with extreme precision and durability to control and monitor machinery in the toughest environments. Manufactured with rugged internals to handle your toughest tasks.

A compact and fanless industrial touch screen HMI that's as intuitive as it gets. Deploy it anywhere from CNC machines on production floors to warehouses to whatever your challenging needs may be.

With a wide viewing angle and VESA mount capabilities, this HMI computer can be mounted anywhere and gives you the flexibility you need to control and automate your processes.

Maintenance-Free Operation

Industrial HMI computers are used in a variety of ways, whether they're embedded, mounted, or attached to machines, where it's troublesome to remove for maintenance. That will not be an issue with the iPC S19 which boasts a less than 2% failure rate year over year with no need for maintenance.

The implementation of a dust-tight, IP65 front bezel and fanless cooling technology provides a reliable and uninterrupted operating experience around the clock, while eliminating any potential weak links.

Brands That Trust Us

We looked at a number of different manufacturers before choosing Cybernet. Ultimately, they were able to customize their units to our specific needs, and their sales and support staff worked with our engineers throughout the process to get the solution right.

Chemically Hardened Tempered Touch Glass

When constructing such a durable and rugged computer, there was no better option to use than chemically hardened tempered glass to complement its strong industrial grade components.

This significantly increases the glass hardness and allows the weakest point to be truly durable and rugged.

In addition to its ruggedness, this glass allows us to offer two touch screen options that provide precise and accurate performance even when wearing leather or rubber gloves.

Human Machine Interface Meaning

Simply put, HMI is a display that allows humans to interact with machines. The most common type of HMI systems would include a screen or a computer for humans to control the machine which would also display data, information, or feedback.

A good example of a human machine interface in a factory setting is a computer controlling a conveyor belt. Workers can use the computer to change the speed of the belt or stop it, and the computer shows them data such as speed, count, and other useful statistics.

Is HMI the Same as SCADA?

SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) is a type of computer system that gathers and displays information pertaining to a system of machines in real time. It consists of an HMI, PLCs, and equipment.

The main difference is that SCADA is a remote monitoring system while an HMI panel has to be connected to the machines it controls. A SCADA unit includes a built-in HMI, making HMI a required component of SCADA while HMI does not have to be a part of a SCADA system. Both systems usually have touch screen capabilities.

HMI PCAP vs Resistive Touch Screen Difference

Resistive touch screens technology is constructed from two layers of glass separated by gaps. When pressure is applied to the screen, the layers touch each other which triggers voltage to pass through. That makes a resistive touch screen responsive to gloves, pens, stylus, or any object pressed against it. The biggest downside is that it's usually only able to recognize a single point of touch, and if the external film ever gets damaged, the touchscreen would need to be replaced. Worthy to note that resistive touch screens are pressure-based and will sense any objects that come in contact to the touch screen, while PCAP will only detect conductive objects.

PCAP stands for Projected Capacitive Touch Technology, and it's a variant of surface capacitive touch. A PCAP touch screen uses a glass surface which makes it resistant to scratches and harsh cleaning agents. It works by maintaining an electrical charge across the contact surface that is monitored by a touch controller. When a finger touches the glass, the touch controller is able to detect the difference in charge and detect the touch. One of the biggest advantages is the ability to use multiple fingers or objects at the same time which allows things like swiping and pinching to zoom on the screen.

Are HMI Computers Durable?

If you're looking for an industrial HMI panel, you definitely need to consider durability. HMI Computers are used on factory floors and more often than not in harsh environments. There are minimum requirements you should look for when considering one.

Make sure it's rated IP65 since liquid and dust can get into the panel and ruin the electronics. An IP65 rating means the bezels are sealed well and won't allow dust particulates or water to get in even if sprayed directly on the panel.

Fanless cooling also helps keep dust out since there is no fan to suck in dust from the air. It also adds durability by eliminating moving parts and weak links in the panel.
