Frequently Asked Questions
Is the outdoor display readable in direct sunlight?
Yes. The display is engineered for outdoor visibility with high brightness output and optical bonding that minimizes glare and reflections. This ensures charts, forms, maps, and inspection data remain clear in direct sunlight.
What is the battery life of the tablet?
With mixed usage, the Rugged X20 delivers up to six hours of runtime. Extended battery options and hot swap capability allow crews in the field to operate the tablet throughout the entire shift without interruption.
How does hot swapping work if there is only one removable battery?
The Rugged X20 includes a small internal bridge battery that powers the device for roughly one minute. This gives the user enough time to remove and replace the main battery without shutting the tablet down. When the main battery is unlocked, the screen briefly turns off to conserve power. After inserting the replacement battery, the display powers back on and work can continue immediately.
Does the LAN port support PXE boot directly, or is a docking station required?
The tablet's built-in Gigabit LAN port fully supports PXE boot. This setting can be enabled in the BIOS menu and does not require the use of a docking station.
Can the tablet dock while hand straps or other accessories are attached?
Yes, the Rugged X20 is designed to dock securely even when optional hand straps and other accessories are still attached.
Do you offer accidental damage protection for outdoor use?
Yes, Cybernet offers an Accidental Damage Protection program that covers damage caused by drops, spills, and other unexpected accidents. Terms and conditions apply, and we recommend reviewing the complete program details for coverage specifics.
Is the Rugged X20 waterproof or water resistant?
The Rugged X20 features an IP65 rated front bezel and an IP54 rated chassis. These ratings help protect the tablet against dust and water exposure during outdoor operations such as rain, wash downs, and moisture rich environments. It is not designed for full submersion.
Can the Rugged X20 tablet be used in extreme temperatures?
Yes. The Rugged X20 operates reliably from -10°C to 50°C. This temperature range supports field work in hot environments, cold climates, and rapidly changing outdoor conditions.
Does the tablet support glove or stylus input for outdoor tasks?
Yes. The touchscreen supports operation with gloves, styluses, and bare hands, making it suitable for workers wearing protective equipment or operating in cold weather.
Can the tablet be mounted in vehicles or heavy equipment?
Yes. The Rugged X20 is compatible with RAM mount vehicle docks and dedicated mounting systems for trucks, forklifts, construction equipment, and service vehicles. These mounts are built for vibration resistance in mobile outdoor environments.
Does the Rugged X20 support GPS or 4G LTE for field connectivity?
Yes. Optional GPS and 4G LTE modules provide location tracking and wireless connectivity for remote job sites, field inspections, and teams operating in areas without reliable Wi-Fi access.
Is the tablet suitable for construction, utilities, oil and gas, and other outdoor industries?
Yes. The Rugged X20 is engineered specifically for demanding field and industrial environments. Its MIL STD 810H testing, wide temperature range, drop protection, sunlight readable display, and long battery options make it ideal for field service, construction, logistics, oil and gas operations, utilities, transportation, and mobile inspections.
